Liatris is one of the great beauties of the American plains, and grows wild all the way from Canada to Mexico, making it a natural favorite for migrating wildlife, such as hummingbirds and butterflies. Today, it's a big favorite of florists for dramatic arrangements. The foliage is grass-like, forming a fountain from which the flower spikes arise. The roots are bulb-like and easy to grow.
